“Business Contact Information” means any of the following information as used in connection with an individual’s business or profession: Name, Title, Company Name, Business Email Address, Business phone number, Work address, Public professional profile address, and/or supplementary information such as business role and responsibility designations.
Using proprietary technology, Demand Bytes builds profiles of business people and companies, which we call “Contacts” from different sources including Corporate Websites, Annual Reports, Social Networks, Tradeshows, Conferences, User Groups, Publications, Associations, News Releases, Technical Papers, List Directories, Communities, Blogs, Press Releases, Company Reports, Trade Magazines, Journals, Newsletters, Professional and Social Networking Sites and Search Engines, Third-Party Data Platforms etc.
Once we have collected business Information about a person or company, we combine multiple mentions of the same person or company into a CONTACTS. The resulting master of Contacts is then made available to our customers and strategic partners.
Demand Bytes Products and Services
Demand Bytes collects information regarding companies and their employees, including Business Contact Information on company executives, decision makers, and other employees. The information collected is like that which is typically included on online professional profile, a business card, or business email signature etc. including: name, company name, job title, business email address, business phone number, business address, and corporate website URL. Demand Bytes gathers, verifies, and organizes this data for purposes of licensing such information to Demand Bytes clients and strategic partners for sales and marketing purposes.
Demand Bytes obtains data for its database from first-hand research, including telephone interviews and publicly available resources, third-party licensors, and crowd-sourcing etc.; All the business contact information that Demand Bytes obtains through any of the foregoing means is verified by Demand Bytes’s technologies and in-house research team, and information that is found to be inaccurate or irrelevant to the purposes of the Services is removed and deleted. Demand Bytes endeavors to publish highly accurate business contact information on influencers and decision makers and other agents and employees of the companies it profiles.
CASL Compliance
Canadian Anti-Spam Policy (CASL)
CASL is an anti-spam law that applies to all electronic messages (i.e. email, texts) organizations send in connection with “commercial activity.” Its key feature requires Canadian and global organizations that send commercial electronic messages (CEMs) within, from or to Canada to receive consent from recipients before sending messages.
Note- CASL does not apply to CEMs that is simply routed through Canada.
Demand Bytes is committed to compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Law (“CASL”). We take important steps to ensure our customers and others who receive communications from us do not encounter spam. We only send Commercial Electronic Messages (CEMs) in compliance with the Anti-Spam Policy. Demand Bytes ensures our internal policies and procedures address and adhere to CASL compliance.
A CEM sent by Demand Bytes is an electronic message that encourages participation in a commercial activity, such as purchasing a Demand Bytes product or service.
Demand Bytes only sends CEMs in the following contexts:
- You have explicitly informed us that you would like to receive such messages (e.g. you have subscribed to our publications or newsletters);
- Demand Bytes is responding to a request for information from you;
- You have provided your e-mail address to us, or have published your e-mail address, without placing any restrictions on its use, and the content we are sending you is relevant to your business role;
- To communicate with you about your account, subscription or similar relationship with us;
- To provide information that you are entitled to receive about products or services you have requested from us;
- A third party who you have an existing relationship with has referred us to you;
- You have an existing business relationship with Demand Bytes;
- You have an existing non-business relationship with Demand Bytes (such as being a volunteer or donor for Demand Bytes);

How does Demand Bytes protect you from receiving spam?
CEMs sent, or caused to be sent, from Demand Bytes do not:
- Use or contain invalid or forged headers or non-existent domain names;
- Employ any technique to otherwise misrepresent or obscure the sender of the message, the point of origin or the transmission path for the message;
- Contain false or misleading information in the subject line or otherwise contain false or misleading content;
- Use a third party’s Internet domain name, or relay from or through a third party’s equipment, without permission of the third party; or
- Attempt to surprise or confuse you. Demand Bytes makes best efforts to ensure that you have either directly provided consent, or that implied consent has been established via providing us your email, publicly disclosing your email and/or establishing a business relationship via requesting our products (print or digital). All CEM’s are verified for relevance to your job title and/or industry.
Demand Bytes does not knowingly do business with any company that participates in sending spam. Demand Bytes will not directly provide or exchange your email address information with any other organization.
What if I no longer want to receive messages from DEMAND BYTES?
In most cases, Demand Bytes’s CEMs provide you with the ability to unsubscribe or opt out of receiving our CEMs. When you unsubscribe using the links provided in our CEMs, your request will be processed as soon as possible, and no later than 10 business days after you send the unsubscribe request. There are only limited contexts in which you cannot request that Demand Bytes stop sending you messages, such as when we must communicate with you to enforce Demand Bytes’s legal rights.
Receipt of a CEM from DEMAND BYTES that seems to violate this policy
In the unlikely event that you receive any messages from Demand Bytes that may be considered spam, please contact us at privacy@demandbytes.com and the matter will be investigated. All Demand Bytes staff are aware of this Anti-Spam Policy, are appropriately trained, and are required to ensure that CEMs receive appropriate approval from the Compliance Officer before being sent to any of our lists. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in the event that this procedure is not followed.

The General Data Protection Regulation GDPR For EU Residents
Demand Bytes complies with the recent GDPR regulation by processing data along the GDPR norms. Under GDPR there are six grounds to process personal data, these are equally valid. There are two of these which are relevant to our business (direct B2B marketing) they are: consent or legitimate interest. As Recital 47 of the GDPR states that “The processing of personal data for direct marketing purposes may be regarded as carried out for a legitimate interest.” Using legitimate interest as the basis for B2B marketing involves ensuring key conditions are met:
“The processing must relate to the legitimate interests of your business or a specified third party, providing that the interests or fundamental rights of the data subject do not override the business’ legitimate interest.”
“The processing must be necessary to achieve the legitimate interests of the organization.”
Along with the above compliance, Demand Bytes DOES NOT share personal data with customers / partners, RECORDS all data processing activities, DON’T SOURCE any sensitive information such as religion, political inclinations, gender, age etc., has an EXPLICIT OPT-IN, OPT-OUT process.
As a ‘data processor’, Demand Bytes follows the following data privacy requirements honoring the GDPR law (Article 13 and 14). Demand Bytes provides notice to all data subjects as required by GDPR Article 13 or 14, as appropriate, and honors the rights of data subjects provided in Articles 12-23, including the right to be forgotten.
Demand Bytes informs individuals about the collection and use of their personal data, retention periods for the data, and who it will be shared with. This is a key transparency requirement under the GDPR, provides privacy information to individuals at the time of collecting their personal data. When Demand Bytes obtains personal data from other sources, we provide individuals with privacy information within a reasonable period of obtaining the data and no later than a month. If any EU resident information is sourced in Demand Bytes database then Demand Bytes will provide such individual with a notice detailing the information Demand Bytes has on such person, the purpose for which it will be used, and informing such person of their rights with respect to such information, including the right to know what information Demand Bytes possesses on them, to correct such information, or to opt out of data collection entirely. California Consumer Protection Act CCPA for California Residents
The CCPA applies to any business, including any for-profit entity that collects consumers’ personal data, which does business in California, and satisfies at least one of the following thresholds:

In case the Consumer decides to opt out he/she shall be eligible for the same prices and services which are offered to other consumers.
