Connecting Rural America – Service Provider Cost and Capacity Challenges
Regional service providers, spurred by recent FCC funding, are building out networks to extend coverage to underserved communities. One critical area that can be overlooked is the need to provide IPv4-IPv6 connectivity. The price of scarce IPv4 addresses keeps rising. IPv6 is often not a viable near-term option as adoption is still uneven with many devices and servers currently supporting IPv4 only.
