Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing is used to speed up the development of complex, real-time automotive systems in situations where using a complete vehicle is impossible, too costly, time-consuming or dangerous. HIL test setups use data inputs from physical devices such as radars and the operation of supporting ECUs and sensors are electronically simulated. It is an important step in the validation of automotive radar and critical for the development of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). To ensure quality, reliability and safety, it is necessary that the test hardware is scalable, accurate and compatible with all the necessary interfaces.
