White Paper Overview

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) utilize the images captured by stereo cameras to detect objects around the vehicle and calculate distance which can be used for features like automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and parking assist. However, the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) commonly used in modern automotive lighting and traffic signals can present challenges for certain image sensors within ADAS.

This white paper details how onsemi’s image sensors, equipped with “super exposure” technology, leverage large in-pixel overflow memory to dramatically expand dynamic range and achieve 120 dB LED flicker-free operation. The advanced super exposure pixels enable these sensors to address the challenges posed by ADAS requirements and flickering LEDs.
