Application Note Overview

As DisplayPort continues to support higher resolutions, faster data rates, and increased bandwidth, comprehensive compliance testing is critical to ensure interoperability and signal integrity across devices and interconnects. This application note provides an overview of physical layer compliance testing for DisplayPort source transmitters and passive cables in accordance with VESA CTS v2.1. It explains oscilloscope-based transmitter measurements, automated test execution possibility, and signal integrity analysis through equalization and jitter decomposition. The note also covers passive cable characterization using mixed-mode S-parameter analysis on a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), including eye diagram simulation and TDR-based impedance measurements for standards-compliant DisplayPort PHY validation.
