Since April 2018, all new vehicles in the EU must be equipped with eCall, an automated emergency system that transmits critical data to public safety answering points (PSAPs) in the event of a serious accident. By reducing response times, eCall helps improve road safety and saving lives. Next Generation (NG) eCall builds on this by leveraging 4G/5G and fully IP-based communication, enabling advanced and flexible connectivity, including future support for non-terrestrial networks (NTN).
